Famous American orchestra Pink Martini was formed by the pianist Thomas Lauderdale in 1994. It became popular due to its bright compositions and musical experiments that are beyond any styles’ limits. Pink Martini’s members are inspired by the world culture, so they create truly original and distinctive music. There is absolutely no doubt that the orchestra managed to find its unique style, which can be hardly mixed up with someone else’s: they combine elements of jazz, latin, classical and even pop music in a very successful way.
The group’s debut took place at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and after that Pink Martini travelled a lot all around the world, performing with various orchestras, including the famous Los Angeles Philharmonic. The musicians’ first studio attempt titled Sympathique saw the light in 1997. That record attracted numerous music lovers’ attention to Pink Martini’s creativity in no time and created a real furore: the mix of styles and delicate arrangements were impressive indeed. The following album Hang On Little Tomato was released seven years later, in 2004. Pink Martini did their best to satisfy the listeners’ expectations and they definitely succeeded: the signature musical cocktail pleased the fans by the bright and original atmosphere.
The long play Hey Eugene! was issued in 2007 and it was critically acclaimed. The orchestra kept on gaining the popularity, while the great amount of fresh ideas encouraged the creation of new strong albums. Thus Pink Martini’s discography was enlarged by the powerful record Splendor In The Grass in 2009, which included songs in five various languages: sure, the cultural diversity became one of the band’s most recognizable features. The musicians did not make their fans wait for the next work for a long time. In 2010 they released the fifth studio attempt titled Joy To The World. Traditionally strong record will be enjoyed not only by the orchestra’s old fans, but also by all the connoisseurs of original music, full of elements of different styles and genres.
