British Sea Power
Biography
British indie rock band British Sea Power is often called "group with the most devotion to experiments on the modern scene". During their not very long career musicians have been compared with the large number of bands, ranging from The Cure and Pixies to Joy Division. And the story of British Sea Power is typical for many rock groups. Yan (Scott Wilkinson), Hamilton (Neil Wilkinson) and Wood (Matthew Wood) were school friends, and played together in a number of bands while at school. Then Yan moved to study at Reading University. There he got acquainted with guitarist Noble (Martin Noble). In 2000, Hamilton and Wood also moved to Reading, and they formed a four-man group. They played some gigs, produced a four track demo and was constantly changing it's name. Firstly, Yan and the others called themselves British Air Powers, later Carrion, and British Sea Power was the name of their demo. After considering their actual name, friends moved to Brighton in search of a more vibrant music scene. In this town, the band quickly got a good local acclaim, due mainly to their own club night called "Club Sea Power" (which included 1930s fashion show in addition to music). In the winter of 2009, British Sea Power reported the beginning of their work on the soundtrack to the documentary Man of Aran. The CD with the music and the DVD itself were released at the same time in the spring of the same year.
