Blues

Blues is music genre that appeared in USA in the second half of the XIX century. It is based on African American folk music and their work songs. The name "blues" comes from the expression "the blue devils", which means melancholy and sadness.

Blues is usually described as a slow, liquid and sad music. Tune is based on use of special "blues" notes. The standart lyrical form of blues represents a line, repeated and then followed by a single line.

Blues became the base for jazz and R&B, and influenced nearly all music genres that appeared later.
