Metal
Metal is a music genre that evolved from rock music in early 1970s. It reached worldwide popularity in during the 1980s as an alternative to punk, and, although it has lost its positions later, it still remains quite relevant.
In contrast to punk, metal focuses on playing and singing mastery. Metal music is based on riffs, repeated melodic figures. It is characterised with a thick, massive sound, extended guitar solos and distortioned sound.
Metal has spawned a large number of subgenres, but nearly all of them have common themes such as sex, violence, and the occult.
