Rap/Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a music genre that evovled in early 1970s in New York among African Americans and Latinos as a part of hip hop subculture. Rap is sometimes used synonymously with hip hop, but it is false. Rap is the rhythmic spoken delivery of rhymes; it is one of the elements of hip hop music.
Hip Hop songs are a combination of rap and sampled beats. Firstly hip hop was highly connected with criminal theme, while most of the rappers were criminals themselves.
Hip Hop gained mainstream popularity in late 1980s and a lot of hip hop musicians gradually gave up criminal lyrics. Hip Hop is considered to be one of the most popular genres now.
