R&B/Soul

R&B, rhythm and blues, is a term that appeared in 1940s in the United States. Originally, this term refered to all music played by black musicians, but currently R&B refers to a music based on blues and jazz – for example, soul or funk.

Soul music formed in late 1950s in the United States. Soul is characterised by very emotional performance, tense vocal and liquid melody. Lyrics in soul consecrate mostly on personal feelings.

Currently, "contemporary R&B" is very popular. It was influenced by pop music and replaced disco.
