HIM's sixth studio album Venus Doom is a step in a right direction. It is heavier than their recent album and darker as well. The songs gracefully combine gothic metal and rock and this time around the band laid a special emphasis on guitar work

Once all the light fills and dark riffs are done, the actual songs of Dark Light are classic H.I.M. - all Bon Jovi chuggy guitars, soaring choruses, random goth lyrics that may or may not mean anything at all, and Ville Valo's trademark humor
