Biography

The Jamiroquai band was founded in 1992 in London, Great Britain. Its staff survived drastic changes during the fifteen years of its life, but the soloist and founder named Jason Kay - more known as J. K. - remained devoted to his prodigy. This man has an unusual bio. He was born in 1969 in Stratford and lived with his mother, a jazz singer and TV show woman, until he was fifteen. After that, J. K. ran away and lived as a vagabond for a long time. He had problems with the law and once he was almost stabbed dead, but he managed to survive. When J. K. was arrested for the crime he did not commit, the young man decided to become sensible while it was not too late, and came back home. J. K. made up his mind to follow his mother's way and start singing, but he failed the audition to the jazz band the Brand New Heavies. Therefore, J. K. formed his own collective Jamiroquai, compounding in this title the musical term "jam" with the tribal name of the North American Indians Iroquois and signing a contract to the studio Acid Jazz.
