Johnny Cash has died three years ago, but a number of different collections, compilations and albums with his previously unreleased material just keep on growing. The number of already existing albums is ridiculous. However, all the posthumous releases will never outnumber those mixtapes and singles issued during his life time. The last year's collection The Legend Of Johnny Cash is still having good positions in charts. And it evokes no doubts that its follower The Legend Of Johnny Cash, Vol. 2 released in the current year, is having all chances to achieve the same success.
Just like its predecessor The Legend Of Johnny Cash, Vol. 2 represents songs from the different life periods of Johnny Cash. A block of his early songs, that influenced a development of country music, comprises such all time hits like Home of the Blues, I Still Miss Someone and The Long Black Veil and also his singles There You Go and Ballad of a Teenage Queen, which have taken first positions in US country charts in 1957 and 1958 respectively. There are few songs recorded by Cash together with other performers. For example It Ain't Me Baby featuring June Carter or a song Girl From The North Country which was taken from Bob Dylan's album of 1962 Nashville Skyline. The disc also contains a few songs from a period when Cash was working with well known producer Bob Johnston, these are Daddy Sang Bass from The Holy Land album and Flesh and Blood taken from a sound track album Walk The Line. The last six songs were produced by Rick Rubin, a man who played a very important role in Johnny Cash's last years. Being settled in a chronological order this songs form a logical coda to the album and Johnny's career.
It comes clear that this collection was made for those people who are not familiar to Johnny Cash. His big fans would scarcely find this album worthy of any interest as they may have the same songs on the original albums or be unpleased with the track list which doesn't have their exact favorite songs. But if you are the one who don't know much about Johny Cash, this album, along with its predecessor, will be the best thing for you to choose. It is impossible to collect this set of songs without any assistant from an old Johny Cash fan who is having a deep collection of his records. Those people who were making a track list for The Legend Of Johnny Cash, Vol. 2 tried to do their best to introduce right songs to the listeners casually acquainted with Cash. And though it is impossible to fit all the necessary sonic information reflecting a grand persona of Johnny Cash into a couple of albums, The Legend Of Johnny Cash, Vol. 2 is quite capable to find its listeners and present them a unique world of America n country music.
