Christmas number one single 2011 named in BritainThe song Wherever You Are by Military Wives Choir has become Christmas number one single of this year in Britain. The composition was also named the fastest selling single of the last six years, staggering 556,000 copies during last week – more than other members of Top-10 together.

Military Wives Choir consists of participants of popular TV series The Choir, which is following British choirmaster Gareth Malone trying to teach choral singing to those who have never attempted to sing before. This time's season featured the wives and girlfriends of military personnel deployed to Afghanistan.

Wherever You Are has beaten main favorite – Little Mix, winners of last X Factor series, and their cover on Cannonball by Damien Rice. It also outsold Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, a target of Facebook campaign aimed to take first place from X Factor winners.
