Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl was named among rock singers set to work on Ronnie James Dio tribute album. Former Nirvana drummer has joined the list that already features Motorhead singer Lemmy Kilmister, Judas Priest's Rob Halford, ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, Alice Cooper and others.
Upcoming album will feature covers on the songs that Dio performed during his work in Black Sabbath, Rainbow and later solo career. According to the reports, Dave Grohl is set to rework Mob Rules, while Judas Priest are going to record their own version of Long Live Rock 'N' Roll.
Dio widow Wendy Galaxiola claimed the record would hit the stores next year.
Singer has passed away at his home last year, on May 16.
Ronnie James Dio started his career in hard rock band Elf, and later joined Rainbow, which was formed by Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Together they recorded such famous albums as Rainbow Rising (1976), On Stage (1977) and Long Live Rock 'N' Roll (1978).
In 1979 Ronnie James Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath to record highly successful album Heaven And Hell (1980), followed by several other studio efforts. While performing with Black Sabbath, Dio also popularized "devil's horns" gesture, which became famous among fans of hard rock and metal music.
