Campaign was launched by Rage Against The Machine’s fans in December 2009. Its goal was to take Killing In The Name on the first place in UK Christmas Singles Chart and not let the first place to go to the last winner of popular TV show The X Factor (which happened since 2005).

Organizers claimed it was a protest against commercialization of the music industry. The campaign was supported by such artists as Muse, The Prodigy, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Sex Pistols’ John Lydon and others.

Soon after campaign succeeded, Simon Cowell, producer of The X Factor, claimed that he wanted organizers to work for him.

However, campaign founder claimed he and his companions were not aware of it. «Our inboxes for Facebook, Twitter, emails have gone stratospheric. So to be honest we haven't a clue if anyone has offered us anything. We certainly have not accepted or refused anything», said he.
