Madonna’s recently released album Celebration may become her eleventh record to reach the first place in British Album sales chart. The singer may equal with Elvis Presley, who is the only solo artist to have 11 albums which topped British chart.
This week’s chart will be announced in Monday. By the end of Friday, September 25, Celebration was a few thousand sold copies ahead of The Resistance by Muse.
Celebration is a compilation album featuring Madonna’s greatest hits. It also features two new tracks. The first one, titled Revolver, was recorded in collaboration with Lil Wayne. The second song, named Celebration, was co-produced by singer herself and Paul Oakenfold. It was released as a single in August.
Other Madonna’s albums to reach the top of British Album sales chart are Like A Virgin, True Blue, Like A Prayer, The Immaculate Collection, Evita Soundtrack, Ray Of Light, Music, American Life, Confessions On A Dancefloor and Hard Candy.
However, the absolute record still belongs to The Beatles, who have 15 albums which reached the first place.
