Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett claimed that the band would make a "surprise" for their fans this spring. In May they will spend two weeks on recording new material – however, it has nothing to do with their next studio album.
Kirk Hammett refused to reveal details about the project.
"We want to record it in two weeks. It's not really 100 per cent a Metallica record. It's more a recording project than a bona fide Metallica. Whether or not we can pull it off in just two weeks remains to be seen", claimed he.
Earlier Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich claimed that the band would like its next studio effort to feature "good vibe". Musician confirmed that they would start the recording of the album this spring, adding that he and others could not wait to start working despite finishing a huge world tour recently.
"In the past, we would be fed up with Metallica whenever we returned home after a gigantic world tour, but this time it's different", said Lars Ulrich.
Metallica last album Death Magnetic hit the stores in 2008. Last autumn the band released of the new live EP. Titled Six Feet Down Under, it will feature tracks recorded during the band's gigs in Australia from 1989 up to 2004. The earliest one is the performance of Eye Of The Beholder on May 4, 1989 at Festival Hall in Melbourne.
