Oscar-nominated songs banned from the ceremony

19.02.2010 13:42
Oscar-nominated songs banned from the ceremonySongs nominated for Oscar will be not performed at this year's ceremony – for the first time in the history of the awards. Usually, compositions presented in Original Song category are played live during the event. However, this time live performance will be replaced by music videos based on the footage from films these songs are taken from.

Oscar organizers have not yet given a reason for their decision.

This year’s list of nominees for Original Song award is quiet surprising as it does not feature neither Jack White nor Karen O, who were considered to be the main favorites for the Oscar award.

Jack White’s track Fly Farm Blue from the documentary It Might Get Loud and Karen O's All Is Love from Where The Wild Things Are were among 63 songs «contending of nomination». However, both tracks failed to enter the final list.

Instead, it features songs Almost There and Down In New Orleans by Randy Newman from The Princess And The Frog movie. List of nominees also includes Reinhardt Wagner's track Loin De Paname from Paris 36, Mury Yeston's Tak It All from Nine and The Weary Kind by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett from Crazy Heart.

The ceremony will take place on March 7 in Los Angeles.
