The composition features lines touching domestic violence problem. Rihanna, who was assaulted by her boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009, claimed that this message was close to her.

"It's something that, you know, we've both experienced, you know, on different sides, different ends of the table", said she.

Love The Way You Lie is a single from Eminem's recent album Recovery. Rihanna's last to date studio album Rated R was released in 2009.
