Shakira's song became the anthem of the FIFA World Cup 2010Song Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) by Shakira has been chosen FIFA as the official anthem of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa. The singer will perform her composition at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Johannesburg on June 10. She will also take part in the closing ceremony on July 11.

The track will be included in Listen Up! The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album, a compilation of songs devoted to the upcoming World Cup.

«I am honored that Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) was chosen to be part of the excitement and the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup», said Shakira.

Shakira, Alicia Keys and The Black Eyed Peas are set to perform at the upcoming concert at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg. This event will take place to mark the start of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa. The show is scheduled for June 10 – the day before the official opening ceremony.

Named Kick-Off Celebration, the concert will also feature John Legend, The Parlotones and a number of African musicians.
