The Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture revealed that the band – that has recently released new album Angles – would begin the work on the next studio effort in the nearest future. According to his words, it may hit the stores already this year.
"We were just talking about when we would get back together and start writing for the next album. It should be soon. April, mid-April", claimed he.
The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas added: "I think we're going to start working on stuff as soon as possible. We were supposed to already, but it took longer than expected to master the album".
Earlier Nick Valensi, guitarist of The Strokes, claimed that the work on Angles was "awful". According to his words, he did not like the process and was sure that the record would become a failure.
"I won't do the next album we make like this. No way. It was awful – just awful", said he.
However, Angles received very high marks from critics. For example, Rolling Stone magazine described it as "the best album that The Strokes have made since 2001's Is This It, the cannonball that inaugurated the modern-garage era".
