Biography
Noisettes is a new band from England playing indie-rock. This formation was assembled in London in 2003 at the initiative of Shingai Shoniwa who took up the duties of the vocalist and bassist. She was born in 1981 to a family of Zimbabwe descendants in one of the industrial strips of the British capital. Dull working surroundings and grayness of day coming after another day bred the girl’s strong desire to escape it all and sink into art and creation. As a result, Shingai chose music and started playing blues, indie-rock and punk. In 2000, she met Dan Smith, guitarist and vocalist of Sonarfly. After a while, the musician grew disenchanted with his current band and focused on the cooperation with Shoniwa. In 2003, this tandem grew to the trio size as drummer Jamie Morrison joined them, which became the final point of the Noisettes lineup formation. The group spent their first year and a half trying to make friends with press and music lovers. The young outfit was a regular performer in many London clubs and shared the stage with those who had more experience learning hard from them. At the same time, the musicians maintained the foundation for the future fan base, who soon demanded the group should release studio records.
